Preventative Care in Magnolia
Preserving Your Pet’s Health
At Shady Brook Animal Hospital, we believe that preventing disease in your pets is key to your pet’s overall wellbeing and happiness. It is usually much easier to prevent a disease from taking hold in the first place than trying to cure a disease as it progresses. The preventative medical services at Shady Brook Animal Hospital are designed to keep your pet on the right path to a long and healthy life.
Most pets should see a veterinarian every six months. Don’t put off your pet’s health! Call (281) 916-8553 to request an appointment.
Personalized Preventative Care
Each pet is as unique as their owner, which is why we take a customized approach to your pet’s health needs. Our Magnolia veterinary team will take a variety of factors into consideration while we get to know you and your pet. Based on what we learn, we will make recommendations for a personalized preventative care plan for your pet. Our goal is to give your pet high quality healthcare so that they can live their best life.
We consider factors such as:
- Preexisting conditions
All of the above characteristics as well as other things you tell us about your pet are taking into consideration before we make any recommendations as to care for your pet. Your pet’s preventative care plan will look different than that of your neighbor’s, or even another pet in your household! Certain breeds with higher risks for degenerative diseases may require more active attention than other breeds with lower risk factors. Senior pets typically require more care as they age, while pets in their prime won’t need to visit us as often.
Your pet’s preventative care plan may include:
- Blood tests
- Flea and tick prevention
- Parasite testing
- Regular wellness exams
- Spaying or neutering
All of the above services are part of our core recommendations to keep your pet happy and healthy throughout their lives. We may recommend other services not listed above to benefit your pet’s health.
With anything we recommend, our Magnolia veterinary team will take the time to explain what they’re recommending and why, as well as how we believe it will benefit your pet’s health in the long run. If you have any questions about your pet’s preventative care plan, we’re happy to walk you through our answers. We want you to feel empowered to make informed decisions about your pet’s care.
Does My Senior Pet Still Need Preventative Care?
Yes! It’s never too late to get your pet on a preventative care plan. Senior pets can benefit from preventative interventions to make sure any existing conditions they have don’t get worse over time. We’ll help you give your pet a happy, healthy retirement.
